River Street

River Street is the main (and only) through street in the Harvey West neighborhood of northern Santa Cruz. As the name implies, River Street runs next to the San Lorenzo River. Beginning at Soquel Avenue, the section from there to Highway 1 lies behind the levees built after the 1955 San Lorenzo River flood. River Street becomes Highway 9 from where the state highway begins at Hwy. 1.
