Peter Peterson (1825-1916) is described in Guinn as born in Norway, coming in the mid-1850s to a cattle ranch "on the Ben Loman mountains". In the 1890s he sold that land to the Holmes Lime Company and moved to Santa Cruz.

Another Norwegian Peter Peterson (1828-1901) died in Boulder Creek and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
