William J. [Jackson] Dingee (no local burial found) was an entrepreneur with a particular interest in cement production. In the 1900s, he bought and sold several properties in Santa Cruz, including the J. A. McGuire residence on "the Cliff Drive" and the adjacent property of Christian Hoffman. The combined West Cliff Drive properties were later subdivided as "Cliff Manor". Today's three branches of Manor Avenue were created to access the subdivision lots.

In 1906, Dingee built the Davenport cement plant in Davenport, but went broke the following year. The plant had various later owners before shutting down
