John Bowman (1805-1853) was a hardware merchant and tinsmith in Soquel. Brother Edward acquired the Foster & Lake carriage-maker business on Front Street, changing the name to "Santa Cruz Carriage Works" in ~1884 (first "'Sentinel ad found).
