Theron Per Lee came to California in 1847 as a lieutenant in the NY Volunteer company of Jonathon Stevenson, and followed (or maybe preceded) Stevenson to Santa Cruz after mustering out. In 1850, Lee was elected to be Santa Cruz County's first state assembly member. He became the second county judge later that same year, replacing William Blackburn. According to Rowland, Lee returned to New York in the 1870s.
