Almon White (1833-1911) is described in Guinn as born in New York state, coming in the early 1860s to Watsonville after briefly working for the California Powder Works. He worked as a carpenter, until in 1880 he became "superintendent of the Watsonville Water and Light Company", which had just incorporated. After arriving in Watsonville, he married the former Anna (or Anne) Hudson (1845-1930). Anna was a sister of William G. Hudson. The eldest child of the marriage, William A. White, became assistant superintendent of the company under his father.
