William Henry Galbraith (1849-1927) was Santa Cruz County's representative to the California Assembly when Harrison's history was written in 1892, his 2nd term. Born in Vermont, he came to California/Santa Cruz in 1876 (Harrison is not clear on this - Find-a-Grave says Santa Cruz in 1881). While serving as a school teacher/administrator in Santa Cruz and elsewhere, he bought a 256-acre property "six miles northeast of Santa Cruz" (Vine Hill area) where he planted grapes and orchards, becoming a viniculturist. He served one term in the state Assembly (1888).
