A memorial and biographical history of the coast counties of Central California is a book published 1893 in Chicago, and available online at Internet Archive. It includes historical sketches of four counties: Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and San Mateo; and ~380 short biographies. Monterey and San Benito counties are most-heavily represented - one of the longest bios is of David Jacks of Monterey. Another is of Juan Bautista Castro, founder of Castroville in Monterey County. Biographies are listed alphabetically in the table of contents.
