Capitola Wharf is situated just on Monterey Bay, north of the mouth of Soquel Creek, in the city of Capitola. The pedestrian-only wharf has a restaurant and other small businesses, and is popular for sightseeing and fishing. An earlier wharf, built in 1857, existed in the same location when the area was known as Soquel Landing. Today's Wharf Road began even earlier, as a way to transport hides and lumber to the coast for loading and shipment.
