Hanly, Mary J.

Mary Jane Hanly was a nurse who operated a "sanitorium" in the early 1900s. In 1909 she moved the sanitorium to the former Lynch residence on West Cliff drive. Then, in cooperation with Dr. Percy Phillips, she created the Hanly Hospital, located adjacent to the Lynch house at the corner of Bay Street and West Cliff Drive. The Adrian Dominican Sisters bought the hospital after Hanly's death in 1941. The hospital closed in 1967, and the site became today's Dream Inn parking lot in the 1970s. Concrete remnants remain of the hospital entry walkway curbing and building foundations.
