Comstock brothers
The Comstock brothers were in the logging/lumber business in the "Soquel Augmentation" area. According to Powell: "In 1867, Jared and Smith Comstock from Norwich, Connecticut arrived in Santa Cruz County. They lingered in the county for seven years before they finally accumulated enough money to purchase around 1,180 acres from William L. Dickinson on December 15, 1874."

Jared (1847-1889) later moved to Boulder Creek, and died there. Smith moved out of the county.
