George [Thayer] Pardee (1829-1913) is described in Guinn as born in New York state. "The fall of 1856 found him in the Pajaro valley, where, with Messrs. White, Kidder, Knowles and others, he purchased one thousand acres of the [Sebastian] Rodriguez ranch. This was subdivided and Mr. Pardee with George H. White (no info found) received one hundred and fifty acres . . .". Pardee later sold the land, built a house in town, and became a "commissioner" (middleman) for ag sales to S.F. He was elected to the state legislature in 1867.
