Steinmetz, Charles

Charles Steinmetz (1827-1905) was a German immigrant who came to California in 1850, and retired in Santa Cruz in 1868. An obituary in the Santa Cruz Surf described him as a "capitalist". He held many prominent local civic and business positions, including County Treasurer.
