1906 Lawrence aerial photo

The 1906 Lawrence aerial photo was the first panoramic aerial photograph of Santa Cruz. It was taken on June 24, 1906, by George R. Lawrence with a large wide-angle camera Lawrence had invented and built, held aloft by a string of kites. The camera's large negative allowed usable resolution even when zooming in close to the image. Prior to the Lawrence photograph, five panoramic views of Santa Cruz had been created by artists - with varying degrees of accuracy and levels of detail.
