Urial S. Nichols (1838-1904) is described in Guinn as born 1838 in New York state, coming in 1867 to the area of Santa Cruz County that is now Aptos. "Returning to Santa Cruz somewhat later, he established his home here and engaged at the trade of carpenter until 1898, when he was elected constable of the city and township of Santa Cruz."
