Allan Gilmore Wright (1816-1885), known to his neighbors and contractors he hired and fired as "Crazy Allan", left an unfinished house on 39 Mission Street acres when he died in 1885. Wright's name is shown on his parcel on the 1866 town map (detail at right). According to an obituary posted to his Find-a-Grave page, Wright came to Santa Cruz in 1853. After his 1885 death, Wright's niece and her husband Edward Greene came from Vermont to settle the estate, and decided to stay.
