James V. Toscano (1867-1951) was an Italian immigrant who came to Santa Cruz in retirement in the 1920s. Toscano had come to Los Banos as a child, with his parents. Lee Esty designed a house on Beach hill (address not known) for Toscano in 1929. There was a Toscano Hotel on Front Street ca. 1900, but there's no evidence of a connection to James or his family.
