The Hammond family is noted in Sidewalk Companion as owners of "Hammond's Overbrook Farm" on Market Street "since 1883", when Robert G. Hammond (1822-1894) arrived from Tennessee. In the 1980s, the property was subdivided as today's "Brookside" condos. A public pathway runs through the property, across and alongside Carbonera Creek, continuing under the Highway 1 freeway, connecting Market Street to Lee Street.
