George Liddell (1810-1864), born in Scotland, established the Liddell House resort on Beach Hill, with his wife Elizabeth. In 1866 town property owners listings for "Block No. 12", there is "E. Liddell, vacant, .128 acres", for a residential lot on what was then the south end of Center Street, adjacent to the John Dreher farm.
