The Dream Inn, in its prominent location above the beach, is probably the most visible hotel in Santa Cruz. Begun in 1962, the 11-story addition was built in 1972. The 1962 photo at right shows the hotel under construction. In the background to the left, the no-longer-existing Hanly Hospital can be seen. To its right is the former Lynch residence. The motel in between also remains today.
