Francis "Frank" Ely (1869-1925), son of William Ely, was a Santa Cruz furniture retailer/reseller in the late 1870s and 1880s. A member of the Pilot Hose Company of volunteer firefighters, he later became a Santa Cruz fire chief in the 1890s.
