Lead author was Frank Perry, with co-authors Barry Brown, Rick Hyman, and Stanley D. Stevens. The article's main purpose was to correct previous errors about wharf history. The short description states, in part (links added), that: "It has often been written that the [[Railroad wharf|Railroad Wharf]], used by the [[Santa Cruz and Felton Railroad]] starting in the middle 1870s, was originally the wharf built by [[Gharky, S. David|David Gharky]] in the 1850s. The evidence presented here shows that the Railroad Wharf was an entirely new wharf and not a conversion of the [[Gharky Wharf]]."
